Voting yes on Measure H is the best way to maintain and improve these essential city services and more. As San Mateo grows, we must ensure our services keep pace so we can retain the high quality of life we enjoy today.
Today, the city faces a structural budget deficit, and this measure provides locally controlled revenue to help maintain services while addressing rising costs and aging infrastructure. The current budget cuts 2% of services and without this measure, much more significant cuts will be needed to balance the budget. The measure will only cost 25¢ on a $100 purchase, essentials like groceries and prescriptions remain exempt and it ensures out-of-town visitors pay their share for essential services when they visit San Mateo to eat or shop.
